It's over, you will not be attending Yale

Finally Gossip Girl is back. The students of Constance and St.Jude are putting on a performance of The Age of Innocence. I love the book.
Madame Olenska: Blair
May: Serena
Archer: Dan Humphrey

Rachel comes to the dress rehearsal and Dan gives her a note. She puts a key to her apartment in it. All the teachers are talking about her. Jenny is to deliver the note but drops it in front of Rufus. Rufus goes and scares her but cannot dissuade Dan from continuing the relationship. They are engaging in indiscretions in the costume closet before the play.

Blair gets the bad news that her Yale acceptance has been rejected. Someone told on her for the teacher hazing she was involved in. Someone is out to get her but who is it? Whoever it is the same person who is after Serena? Could it be Rachel? Yep it is. She is the one who is spreading all the shameful lies. Dan is so disheartened by all of this that he tells Blair about the sex in the closet. Blair sees how sad Rachel is she doesn't even have the heart to destroy her. She believes that karmically she deserves the Yale punishment. Dan is still my favorite character with all of his morals and honesty.

Chuck finds his mystery woman. She needs his help. He accidentally puts her into a car with Carter and the group of powerful men who are trying to destroy her. Chuck pulls out all the stops to try and save her. Is this a set up? After the girl finds out that she is safe she blows Chuck off. He realizes he needs Blair but simultaneously Blair is getting a drink with Carter (he seems he is very evil).

This all culminates on the stage when people fall out of character and say how they really feel. This is prompted by Nate's hatred and confusion about the guy who is directing the play. Serena is using Vanessa's know how to seduce him and Nate mistakenly overhears. He is gay. Too many misunderstandings. This prompts a
"put in some more effort" talk between Vanessa and Nate. He watches the Age of Innoncence and she watches ESPN. Look at us we're growing.

I am not wholly convinced that this was worth the wait. Next week however will be a different story. Blair looks to have embraced the evil inside of her and is having a great time with Carter.

  1. "She needs his help. He accidentally puts her into a car with Carter and the group of powerful men who are trying to destroy her." This is a good example of a brief yet comprehensive character sketch.

What is this nonsense about the Age of Innocence? Is Gossip Girl becoming the thinking man's Gossip Girl?
