Better Late Than Never

This is the season finale (I think it is only the season and not series finale. I tried to find the answer but was unsuccessful.) and Whitney is finally the person I needed her to be all this time.

Olivia is even more terrible than usual in this episode. She played her favorite game. You know the one where she pretends to be interested in whatever is bothering Whitney and then calls her out for being immature and bringing up her personal life at work. This just about pushes Whitney over the edge but not quite. (Jay has not contacted Whitney for an undisclosed period of time.)

She then calls in the big guns. She calls Lauren in LA. Lauren reminds her that she needs to be focused on work and do what she went to New York to do. That way she will be able to do well at work and put Olivia in her place.

Emboldened with this pep talk she finally confronted Olivia for taking all the credit for the Elle photo shoot. (She and Olivia are up for the same London team contact position. Olivia is immediately sucking up to the guy and again takes credit for pulling the look.) You will recall that Olivia didn't like the look and thought it matched too much. When Whitney talks to her about it Olivia is willing to concede partial credit for Whitney but then storms off. She is probably scared because Whitney is clearly not going to take it anymore. Olivia is so evil. They decide to send her to London. I hope she stays there. Well not really she doesn't deserve the great health care system that they have in place (I watched Sicko this weekend. Everyone should watch this.) Whitney can hardly contain her disgust as Olivia tells her the news.

DVF herself then sat Whitney down and gave her a talk. She was full of good advice and glowing from a successful show at fashion week. Her mom always said,"Absence is to love what the wind is to fire." And "the most important relationship you have is the relationship with yourself." This is one time that I can see the producers cutting out parts of the conversation. I would have liked to hear what Whitney says in response to this. She is a much more kind adviser than Kelly Cutrone. Although her advice is less brutal and fun it seems more sage.

It is still fashion week so I have no means of telling how long it has been but Jay shows up outside the party. He gives Whitney a big shpeel about how it is better late than never for them and how much he loves her. And again Whitney amazes me by making it seem like she will take him back even giving him a big hug. He says "better late than never." She says, "too little too late." Buh-Bam. Take that Jay. She then goes right back in to the party. I am cheering for her again. Maybe she was hustling us this whole time. Pretending to be all meek and mild but really she is not going to take any of the abuses. One can only hope.

Also, seemingly out of nowhere, Adam goes to Erin's workplace to call her out. He is sick of her meddling in his relationship and, unrelatedly, sick of her being a ho. They shout at each other and she at one point asks him to get his finger out of her face or something along those lines. This is strange and I really like it. This prompts Allie to bring the ratty fur coat out and march down to his restaurant to confront him (I think he is the host? Maybe manager but I don't know.) He swears she will never hear those things about him again. Likely. She is his "one true love." She is a fool and you can see in his eyes that he fells proud of his win. Not to have her back so much as to have tricked her once more.

  1. This had to have been the greatest City episode of all time. Or a gripping post. A movie recommendation, talk of ratty fur coats, this had it all. And I can't believe there was almost a fight between Adam and Erin? Buh-bam.
