That is way too much information for me to be hearing...You're an adult. You're what 23 years old. You're not in high school.

Inexplicably Jay and Adam are planning an art show and this will be the central plot device of the show this week.

First, Whitney invites Olivia to the party and when she tries to update her on the drama Olivia will have none of it. Apparently she is too mature and wise to hear about these trivial happenings. (She needs to learn that one of her jobs is to listen to the recaps and not what is happening. Someone didn't pay attention to the Hills. If you don't ask the questions or you get sick of the drama you may lose your job, both the one the show and your real job. This happened to that chick from Bolthouse who Heidi took the promotion from.) The worst part about Olivia's speech wasn't the demeaning tone or the way her voice flipped from fake to disgusted it was the fact that Whitney just took it. She wouldn't even complain about the rude treatment later to Erin. Doesn't she know she is the star. LC would not have put up with this type of treatment.

So then the big art opening happens and Cat decides she needs to tell Allie the truth. He never said he had a girlfriend, they kissed, and this is true information female to female. Allie is crying and finally heads for the bathroom. Thank God because this was unbelievably awkward and even slightly painful to watch. Whitney even has to cover her eyes. Whitney tries to console her and then Adam comes to try to deny everything. I mean at this point it is getting harder and harder to deny it but as my husband said, "he's too far in." Annoyingly this drama ends with a conversation on the streets of NYC and the use of the word honey a million times. There was also a good lesson from Allie about what it means to be empathetic vs. actually feeling something. (Dinner at the end of the show coupled with next weeks preview I forsee a whole season of lies and them staying together.)

Olivia and Nevan attend the party and then later dish about the 'scene' and bad mouth "down town hipsters" who sport "fedoras" or "whatever like the look is". I can scarcely believe Olivia would deign to discuss the high school like topics with Nevan. She apparently does not feel superior to him. He doesn't purposely hang with those feckless hipsters. They are so pretentious and am already a little sick of them. Olivia is concerned about Whitney diversifying her friend group while she and Nevan can't think of any friends they have that aren't socials.

Also Jay receives heat from Whitney because if his friend is capable of this who knows the kind of stuff he might try to pull in the future. He is not pleased to be considered guilty by association.

**In Gossip Girl news: Rerun of the episode of either Bart's funeral or the one where he dies. Also I read in US Weekly (I don't normally read it but JLH is on the cover) that they are going to pilot a show that chronicles Lily's wild youth in California. Sounds promising.

Do you want to have a baby?

Quick Big Love note. I am watching. It is too jam packed with happenings for me to document and still enjoy. It looks like Sarah is pregnant and this is by far the biggest news. The wives are still caught up in the dating the potential fourth wife and are really concerned about Nicki's fertility (turns out she is secretly taking birth control and that is the real reason she hasn't concieved. Bill sold the casino to be built on tribal lands. Also his business partner's 2nd and 3rd wife ran off together. There were about 50 other interesting things that happened.

The thing he doesn't understand is that he doesn't understand

Profound words from little Chris about one of the other dudes.
*The best part of Bromance is Sleazy T and Frankie Delgado. It is very challenging to find photos of Sleazy T. Be on the look out. ( I have a little crush on him, maybe it is his name?)

This week on Bromance Brody tricks the fellas to see who will keep it real in the face of Hollywood glamour and tell him the truth. Brody tells them he is launching a line of BJ jeans. They are very tight, low, and have bedazzling all over it (they aren't real) He has all the guys wear the jeans and walk the "red carpet." This is of course after they have been at the spa being manscaped, wearing the jeans, makeup and little pink tank tops. Only one guy tells Brody that these jeans are lame and it is Femi. He is worried about Brody going out and embarassing himself so he tells him. Brody plays the part of being hurt. Femi after telling him the truth still ends up doing all the stuff to support his boy. He then wins a cool outfit to go out in and some special bonding with Brody.
For the second half of the episode the guys were hanging with the playmate of the year and unbeknownst to them trying to make a good impression. The winner ended up being little Chris who got to go in the hot tub with not one but to playmates. I like little Chris but I am not sure that he and Brody are meant to be.
Brody ends up eliminating Alex at a Japanese restaurant after drinking lots of sake. Then he gets bum rushed out the door by the sushi chefs. Next episode is the season finale and I am looking forward to it.

I'm just reading the Brown catalog and I ordered a home dreadlocking kit

Really creepy. Rufus and Lily are back together (and having loud sex) and so are Serena and Dan even creepier.

Today is the day the kids find out about Yale. Dan is in. Serena is in but lying about it and Blair is wait listed. She can't go to Princeton, that is a trade school and you know Brown is full of Trustafarians. What will she do? Typical Blair things manipulate and lie or just wait for Serena to turn her acceptance down and then move into her place. Serena actually wants to go to Brown. But it is unclear what will happen with her and Dan.

Teach for America produced the new teacher at the school. (boo) She looks like she is very, very young. And she will probably turn out to be bad somehow. She crossed Blair already and that will be a mistake. She might also have a crush on Dan? Blair tries to ruin her and she takes down Blair in the form of detention and getting her back on the Yale wait list.

Chuck is trying to exact revenge on the uncle Jack. He has to recruit Lily to help him. She just wants to mother him which is admirable but he is not at all interested and she is going to help him. The way she does it is by adopting Chuck and becoming his legal guardian. Uncle Jack tries to rape Lily at the Opera in the powder room. Chuck repays Lily by busting down the door and saving her. She will give Chuck the company on his 18th birthday in exchange for being in Lily's family. He is moving back in to her house.

There'll be repercussions

Adam, the roommate of Jay, becomes a major player in the episode. He has a girlfriend Allie who is a model. She is very strange looking. Bags under her eyes and lots of angles and she does a lot of sniffing. She also has very flat affect and I don't get it. He is 10 times better looking than her, not an exaggeration. So it is not surprising when she goes out of town and something scandalous happens. And to keep things relevant the person that is involved is a friend of a friend of Whitney. The girls and Whitney are going to have to tell her the truth and drama ensues. They are sitting outside in the rain at Cafeteria (I don't think the restaurant would let them film inside) and Olivia holds up her ring finger to show how "so full on" she and Adam are. Adam tried to nip it in the bud (and creates an awkward drive from the airport conversation) but it is too late and the episode ends with Allie in tears. He is sorry honey and he promises never to do it again. (Right)

Olivia continues to be ridiculous. We see her shopping for Art with Nevan (cousin, you know how I feel about him) because she couldn't make it the auction at Christie's. He is needing to get a job so that his dad will un-cut him off. He talks Olivia into letting him crash on the couch. Not all surprising Olivia has a small "purse dog" at her house. Surprisingly she makes a no "strange chicks" in the apartment rule for Nevan. I did not think he was straight. Way to keep things interesting MTV. Hilarious exchange. Nevan has some super "comf" shoes that are so hideous that Olivia insists he have some new shoes messenger ed over.

As I had feared MTV is needing to spice things up. They had to do another "this season on the City." Blogs to look forward to a trip to Miami, a confrontation between Kelly Catrone and Allie, Allie and the other woman confrontation, Jay moving in with Whitney, and Jay and Whitney fighting about a liar.

I believe in Bromance because...

Bromance was full of the usual hilarity. Brody sent the boys on a camping trip and then brought in a life coach. The life coach made most of the guys cry and then made them say why they believe in bromance before they did a trust fall. (Ridiculous) Two highlights of this show Frankie and Sleazy T show up with an alligator and put it in the tent with the guys. Also the elimination ceremony was highly entertaining. After camping the guys needed to clean up so Brody had 5 tubs full of bubble bath and chicks in bikinis. Unfortunately one of those tubs was for Brody and one of the guys was going home. I am sorry to say that it was Gary. He did love those shoes that LC had on also it seemed like he was a little too nice. All the guys were telling stories about times they had with the ladies but Gary was talking about cuddling and love making. He didn't have a chance.

Mr. President

Today I will remember for the rest of my life. I will remember exactly where I was and who I was with when Barack Obama was inaugurated. On this fine and momentous day my hat is off to our new President and of course my favorite Keith Olberman is keeping me up on the happenings. (I don't even believe the news until MSNBC tells me it. )I am now watching the Neighborhood Ball and the Commander in Chief ball. I wish I was in D.C. right now.

This life is but a speck of time

Big Love is back and more interesting than ever. The recap of last season was so crazy and full of information. I had forgotten all that had happened.
This episode Bill is still hanging around with Anna but she does not seem interested in becoming his fourth wife. She really just wants to sleep with Bill. He holds out for a while but then commits a big sin. Finally by the end of the episode she comes around to the idea of dating Bill and his three wives. It looks like Anna will continue to be around for the rest of this season at least.
The Henricksen's are worried that everyone on the block knows about their plural marriage but it turns out no one does. It is a scary time to be a polygamist. Around the country they are shutting down compounds.
The UEB compound is a big mess because Alby is in charge and one of Bill's half brothers gets thrown out of the compound. Someone tries to have him killed when he is off the compound trying to illicit sex at a public restroom.
The biggest news of the whole episode is that Barb's cancer might be back. She doesn't tell anyone about it but that seems to be why she changes her mind about the 4th wife. She beat cancer 7 years ago and does not want to accept the fact that it might be back.
Margie makes herself useful by helping Bill to secure a casino business with a Native American tribe. Bill's great idea is to have Mormon friendly casino. No drinking,no smoking, kid friendly sounds weird to me. The wife of the Native American really blasts bill about the Book of Mormon's racist ideas. Margie seems to settle everyone down and the deal looks like it will go through.
Nicki has taken a job to pay off her huge credit card debt but really it is to spy at the DAs office for her mother.
Many a time during this episode I felt uncomfortable because there is a lot of creepiness and deception but I love it. Everything is so much crazier than when it all began.

Spare me those expressive eyebrows. I can't wait 'til you get botox.

Gossip Girl this week centered around two main plot points.

Dan is forced throughout this episode to keep the secret of Lily and Rufus because Lily wants to tell Serena herself. This is keeping Dan in the creepy position of wanting to tell Serena and wanting to date a relative? I mean it is not like they are relatives. Well okay it is a little weird. Anyway the mean girls "put a hit out on Dan Humphry." A hit means collect as much gossip as possible. Someone stole Dan's phone and then the mean girls leaked the info on Gossip Girl. The damn text message medium. So easily intercepted This is going to be weird for Serena and Dan and reunite Lily and Rufus. Eww. It is too much for me and everyone in NYC knows. Unfortunately this alleged child died tragically last year...or so they were told by the parents of their adoptive son. (What a great idea to get rid of Lily and Rufus, ingenious.)

The other main plot line is that Chuck inherited the controlling share of Bass Industries. Uncle Jack is unhappy about this and is trying to ruin Chuck. That damn morality clause. Chuck also hurts Blair, again. He tries to make things right and Blair gives him a blast with the truth. I like her trying to protect herself. I think she will be able to hold out until the end of this season at least. It appears Chuck will disappear again back to Thailand? Maybe Cambodia.

Man she had the best looking heels I've ever seen

Gary on LC's shoes when he met her. I am not sure that is how you win over Brody and the dudes but I like it.

A quick rundown of Bromance this week.

Finally LC is here. She asks them questions in a dating game fashion. Hiding from behind a screen. Some of the fellas are a little too honest for her taste and she declares that Femi is crazy. He loves to talk about the various animals he is from day to day. Alex wins and gets to hang out with LC and Brody for a while.

Sleazy T and Frankie come to talk to Brody while he is in the shower. I enjoyed this part because of the music that was playing. Think old school workout video or cheesy porn. He cancels the barbecue and make the bros do an activity at the house that tells a little about their personality. There was dancing, mini golf course, creation, slip and slide, stand up comedy, jam session, and (my personal favorite) style critique and tattoo. Femi hates on everyone's personal style and then copies Brody's tattoo. He also heckled little Chris the comedian. (another Bromance with tears).

The best part of this episode was the elimination. They went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant and he narrows it down to two guys who might have to go, Gary and Jered. The guys have to go out back and put on a blindfold. Brody is dressed in a slightly offensive mustache and sombrero combo. Then Sleazy T and Frankie come out as the firing squad. Jered is the one who is repeatedly shot with paintballs and is saddened when he has to go home.

I think Alex is going to be the winner. All signs point to him. I also think that the producers are making Brody keep Femi because he is sensational and every hates him.

The largest disappointment not enough Sleazy T. I like him and want to see more of him.

She's a keeper, she's a keeper

Picture this with an Australian accent (keepah, keepah). Let's all hope that Jay is right and that the Village Voice is wrong. Whitney is trying hard to keep us interested and finally wins Jay over. I have been nervous about The City because I have a feeling it is not keeping it exciting enough for the hip MTV crowd. There is still not an aftershow.

Olivia is now playing the role of Whitney's talentless, jealous, assistant. I really like it because she makes a lot of dissapointed/whistful faces. Especially when Whitney was having a face to face talk with DVF herself. She makes herself useful when the socials come out of the woodwork for the big DVF party. She hugs and greets everyone in a quite fake way.

Someone else special comes to the party. A new potential love interest who works in the finance dept. He invites her to lunch in front of the big boss. It was pretty ballsy. Unfortunately he is shy and there aren't any sparks but it will make for an interesting conversation with Jay, my fave Australian. Jay is not impressed but clearly jealous.

Erin is sending mixed message to Duncan from Toronto. Last week she is saying she is in love but when he talks about moving to NY she is a little less in love. She is only 24 and wants to have things to look forward to. I get it keep your man at arms length. It probably keeps things fresh and exciting. She and Whitney have a 2 sentence debrief about her and then she gets back to the hard work of keeping us interested in Whitney...even my interest is starting to wane.

Jay eventually decides to be in "lock down" with Whitney. Will you be my girlfriend? What kind of a dude is he? He is so easily manipulated. One lunch date with the guy from accounting and he is jumping through her hoops.

MTV news...Rumor has it MTV was shooting a new reality show in Pike Place Market this afternoon. It is called "The Phone" and Timberlake is an executive producer. It is some kind of extreme reality game show. A helicopter is involved. Sweet. This information was so exciting that I almost fell down the stairs at work...again. This would have been worse though since it was 8-10 concrete stairs.

That's the problem with an open invitation, can't keep out the Hoi Polloi

My DVR and I are finally catching up on things. Here is the latest on Gossip Girl. (You know I wouldn't dissapoint)

Let us begin. Blair is a potential member of the Colony Club. (women clad in pearls and argyle and just as catty as the mean girls in high school) Chuck was hiding in a Bangkok Opium den and is brought home by Uncle Jack in a disastrous state. He will not even remember who brought him home. He will throw himself a big giant party with many drugs and alcohols. Then Chuck will spend a few minutes teetering on the roof of the building and Blair has to spill her guts to him again and give up her dream of high society. She talks him down so the romance that I am most excited about may continue. When Uncle Jack takes Chuck home there is an reference to some secret Uncle Jack and Blair shared on New Years. What was it you may ask? I think it was sex. The ultimate secret.

Serena returns home from Buenos Aires and has broken up with Aaron. Yay! Serena and Dan back together. Is it to good to be true? Probably because Rufus has been looking for the child he had with Lily. We find out it is a boy. Then Dan finds out the truth. He wants to tell Serena but

Mean girls, meaner than ever and picking on some poor Asian girl with glasses, named Nelly. Too bad that girl holds a lot of secrets that could destroy and little J is setting the girl free. Jenny gets an offer to be the Queen Bee since Blair is too busy worrying about Chuck. She turns it down. Maybe Little J has turned over a new leaf?

Maybe I'm just a fool for love

In this Episode of The City Erin comes alive. (I also think she is way cooler now that I know she is the daughter of an AC/DC band member) She has dialogue for the sake of speaking not just to move the plot along (although she does her share of Whitney questioning, she knows how to keep herself relevant) and even brings a love interest to stay. She has a friend named Duncan. Duncan-from-Toronto also helps to move the plot along by making it uncomfortable for Whitney to continue living on Erin's couch.

Jay offers to help her get a place and she falls in love with the place at first sight (just like with Jay, maybe this is some kind of symbolism, or maybe I am reading too much into these shows.) I can see why. The place is on the 30th floor, hard wood floors, gorgeous views. It makes me wonder how much money she is making working for DVF/how much does MTV give for reality stars. (I had an interesting thing to share about Diane Von Furstenberg but now I forget)

During this time Olivia is offering to help Whitney. I think she sees herself as some kind of a guide but she doesn't seem to be making much of an impact. Olivia is annoyed by her lack of ability to control Whitney. It looks like Whitney is leaning towards becoming a downtown hipster. A strange aside happened when Olivia was talking to her dumpy assistant, I mean cousin, who was talking about his strange day. Apparently he was given a 100 dollar ticket and harassed by 3 cops for spitting on the platform at the subway.

When Erin and Jay are helping Whitney move into her place there is an intense conversation about Erin's love of love. She has just rushed into saying she loves Duncan from Toronto. Jay is very critical of this move and then at dinner he and Whitney are forced into an uncomfortable DTR (define the relationship). This is how it shook out: Jay likes getting to know Whitney. He doesn't know her well enough yet. Jay likes to put himself first. Whitney likes Jay. She is pained (you can see it in her face) by the conversation. Whitney wants to be put first in a relationship. Things are still up in the air. Oh well at least she has somewhere to live.

Other points of interest this episode:
My husband's Australian accent improves with every episode.
Someone said, "If by weird do you mean awesome." Are they eaves dropping on my conversations?
Erin has "only ever had long distance relationships." Interesting idea.
Next week the DVF coworker who is forced to work in the same 10 foot area as Olivia and Whitney is going to get involved in their conversation and I can't wait. Until now she has been making judgmental faces in the background.
Still no City Aftershow...I am still available MTV.
A village voice critique of the show. Here is a highlight: "the shelf life of The City already looks dire, thanks to Whitney's unavoidable, inexorable ordinariness"

Village Voice Article

Last of the Brohicans

Okay so this was totally a throwaway line but I am enjoying the boys' enthusiasm for incorporating bro into words. The truth is that this week's episode of Bromance was full of memorable lines and moments.
The fellas were challenged in a variety of ways. First, they showed their strength in the Broathlon. This competition asked them to ride a recliner chair down a hill and through an obstacle course, jump a small bike for distance, and raft across a pool on a raft made of blow up dolls and held together by lingerie (classy touch).

Then to highlight their softer side Brody got really bromantic. He had a fire pit, some margies, and candlelight in an homage to the Bachelor (which I forgot to watch. TV is so awesome right now my DVR and I can't even keep up). He just wanted his bros to open up. This would lead to one of the 3 'men in tears' segments of the show.
At this point, as a viewer, I am concerned about two characters Chris P and Femi. Femi is a source of irritation to everyone in the house and refers to himself as a different animal. Is he a horse, a zebra, an eagle? Whatever will win him the challenge which he never wins. What to do with haters? Femi has an idea. Treat them "like the Ratpack, Sammy Davis Jr. playing the piano" (because Femi thought that he was blind and played the piano, neither of those things are true). He also made made my favorite, Gary, the lovable goof, cry. Then said in a most callous manner, "whatever, he made himself cry." Chris P just can't be himself around Brody and is trying way too hard. Brody takes him a vodka bar in hopes of getting to know him better but instead Chris P just gets too wasted and can hardly create coherent sentences, let alone share with Brody just how he feels about him. Let's just say he spent the whole evening vomiting as well as the next day in the van with the guys. It was very disgusting.
The best part of the evening was when Brody took the guys on a sunset cruise...to elimination. When he eliminated Chris P they sent him out to sea on a little raft. I thoroughly enjoyed this part.
Another triumph. I am so looking forward to next week's special guest, LC.
